يلعب الإيمان والأسرة دورًا كبيرًا في قرار أن تصبح متبرعًا بالأعضاء والأنسجة بين مجتمع اللاتينكس. أطلقنا برنامج Let's Talk للتواصل مع تلك المجتمعات ، حيث من المرجح أن يحتاج الناس إلى زراعة أعضاء ، ولكن من غير المرجح أن يسجلوا كمتبرعين. تحدثنا مع الناس في المجتمع وفي المراكز الدينية وشجعناهم على مشاركة قصصهم ، وكسر المفاهيم الخاطئة ، ومعالجة الأساطير وتشجيع جيرانهم وعائلاتهم وأصدقائهم على الاشتراك كمتبرعين.
في الولايات المتحدة ، هناك حوالي 110.000 شخص ينتظرون الحصول على عضو منقذ للحياة ، ويمثل حوالي 60٪ منهم أقليات عرقية وإثنية. في ميشيغان ، نصف المرضى على قائمة الانتظار. هذا نقاش يمكن أن ينقذ الأرواح.
