Ronald A. Sarley Jr.

Ronald Albert Sarley, Jr. July 16, 1969 to January 16, 2007 Ron Sarley, Jr.s life ended short when he was only 37 years old, but he had lived life to the fullest. He deeply loved his kids and his parents. He was grateful to be able to live his life his last few years with his parents in a loving and very helpful environment. Ron was a very accomplished mechanic. He managed the Sault Ste. Marie Midas Muffler for 13 years. He loved working with people and mentoring young people. He always wanted to be a teacher. Since Ron was a mechanic he always said, “There are always spare parts that need to be used.” With that in mind, he donated his organs to the Gift of Life in hopes of helping others improve their quality of life. Ron was also an avid pool player, a member of the Hulbert American Legion Post, and Newberry Eagles Club. As a racing fan, he also liked watching NASCAR. Ron was married in 1992. His pride and joy, Justin, was born February 12, 2000. In November 2002, Ron’s first episode of hospital visits began. He had bronchitis. Shortly after, he received an Implanted Cardiac Device (ICD). He was hospitalized 6 other times before February 2003. Then along came Abigail on October 23, 2003. She was daddy’s little girl. Beginning in November of 2003, he was hospitalized 3 different times before the end of the year. In January 2004 he was given 7 days to live at the University of Michigan because his kidneys shutting down from stress and medical issues. He surprised everyone and returned home. Major life changes happened in February and Ron was in the hospital almost every month of that year and the next. Finally in June, he had his gall gladder removed, and it made all the difference in his life. He went back to work and started to become more independent again. He was ready to move on with his life. Ron got pneumonia at the end of December of 2006 and left this life a few weeks later. The family chose to symbolize his life with this quilt patch that is a picture of the woods and deer. You will see a buck and two fawns. Ron lived his last few years living with his parents in Hulbert where you can find many deer. It was very soothing for Ron to watch the deer roam and play in the yard. He also loved to watch his two kids play and romp around the house. This picture symbolizes the big buck watching over his two fawns. The family finds it heartwarming to know that Ron’s organs were donated and he was able to help a few people have a better quality of life.
