Patrick John Maxeiner

Patrick was a student in my Calculus class. In a friendly and competitive way he challenged fellow students to rise above themselves. Patrick completed the class with the high score with many of his friends scoring close behind. Several times in the following years he and I would grab a bite to eat at a local Tucson sandwich shop. He would ask advice about continuing his education in graduate school, discuss philosophical topics, and share stories about life. I always looked forward to our discussions. Patrick was one of the most outstanding, intelligent, and moral people I had come to know. I am very glad to have met him. The world lost a champion with his passing. Matt
