Faith leaders share powerful message of saving and improving livesImam Khalil Markham

ANN ARBOR – Gift of Life Michigan has launched a new video that addresses a common question among many people: Does my religion support organ, tissue and eye donation?

The video draws upon leaders of major faiths – Catholic, Baptist, Jewish, Muslim and more – and answers the question with a resounding “yes.” Gift of Life produced the video, “A Matter of Faith,” with the support of members of the InterFaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit.

“Donation is about helping others, about thinking beyond one’s self and about new life, even in the midst of sadness and loss,” said Dorrie Dils, CEO of Gift of Life, the state’s organ and tissue donation program. “That is a universal theme that runs through all religions. We are so grateful for the people of faith who have so beautifully shared that message in this video.”

The video is available on YouTube.com at https://youtu.be/VIKQPABo8bo or youtube.com/giftoflifemichigan. It was produced by Nathan Firn, a Detroit filmmaker, and is available to be used in public presentations, by hospital pastoral and spiritual care staff, in community forums and more.
