Why Gift of Life Michigan?

From our maintenance staff to our transplant surgeons, every person at Gift of Life Michigan is compassionate, professional and dedicated to our mission of honoring life through donation. We each play an important role in saving and healing lives.

Gift of Life sterilizes and sharpens all surgical equipment in-house.

Roles we hold include (but are not limited to):

  • Donor Operations - receive phone calls and digital messages about potential donors
  • Authorization - Interview donor families by phone to obtain medical/social history of the donor
  • Donation Support - work with grieving families to honor the decision to donate
  • Donation Coordinators - medical management of organ donors
  • Tissue Procurement - surgically recover donated tissues
  • Hospital Development - educate and inspire hospital staff to support donation
  • Medical Technologist - histocompatibility and infectious disease testing in the laboratory
  • Finance - accounts payable and receivable, payroll, expense reimbursements
  • Community Relations - presentations in schools, faith organizations, workplaces and more
  • Quality Assurance - review medical records, assist auditors
  • Administration - support all areas of the organization

Benefits/EVP Information

Enjoying Time Off
  • Gift of Life Michigan provides sick and vacation time in the form of paid time off (PTO) to full-time employees beginning the first of the month following their date of hire.
  • Part-time employees (those averaging 25 – 36 hours/week) are given 40 hours of PTO as of January 1 of each year.
  • In addition to the provided PTO, employees are provided six company-paid holidays and three floating holidays as of January 1 each year.
Health Benefits

All employees normally scheduled to work 36 or more hours per week are eligible to receive and/or participate in the benefits offered under the Gift of Life Michigan Health & Welfare Plan. These include:

    • Three medical/prescription insurance plans to choose from through Blue Care Network, including a high deductible health plan (HDHP).
    • A Health Savings Account for those who enroll in the HDHP.
    • Health Care Reimbursement Plan (aka Flexible Spending Account) and Dependent Care Reimbursement Account.
    • Two dental insurance plans to choose from through Delta Dental.
    • Two vision insurance plans to choose from through EyeMed.
    • Employer-paid group life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term disability insurance, and long-term disability insurance.
Retirement Benefits
  • Gift of Life Michigan contributes an amount equal to 10% of an employee’s eligible compensation to a 403(b) Retirement Plan on the employee’s behalf following completion of one year of service.
  • Additionally, employees have the opportunity to make pre-tax and Roth contributions to the 403(b) Plan as of their date of hire.
Professional Development
  • Gift of Life Michigan is committed to the professional growth of its employees. The learning and development program encompasses onboarding, ongoing on-the-job training, online learning courses, and third-party offerings.
  • Tuition and job-related staff development reimbursement is available to full-time employees who have completed one year of continuous service.
Wellness
  • Gift of Life Michigan has an onsite fitness room available to employees to use at any time that includes a selection of cardio and weight equipment.
  • The Employee Assistance Program (EAP), provided by Ulliance, provides access to Life Advisor consultants 24/7 at no cost to employees.
