Daniel K. Denton
Daniel Keith Denton- loving son; caring brother; devoted husband; dedicated father and friend to all. Dan was an Ojibwe Native American who followed the traditional ways. His name, Dewaigan Manidoo (Drum Spirit) reflects the importance of music in his life. He was an accomplished musician playing piano, drums, tipani, guitar, ukelele, and bass. He was part of many bands- the most current being “Crash Cairo” which he was a member of when he passed over. The picture on his quilt piece shows the exact he learned he was going to be a father. He was the best Daddy to his two boys Nate (3 years) and Jake (5 weeks). The beaded rosette is of a Thunderbird with 3 hawk feathers. The Thunderbird (spirit bird) is Dan and the 3 feathers are his sons and wife, Patty. The first quote is from the Mohawk Love Song, sung at his funeral and still sung with honor. Thank you Dan for everything you did for us in your life- your laughter, your music, your unique view of the world. Thank you for everyone you helped with bone and tissue donation in your death. And thank you for all you are still doing for us in your spirit form, Aho, Gii megwech.
