I made this quilt square to commemorate my moms’ life and donation of skin tissue to “gift of life.”
Mon’s favorite response to any story of woe, pain, disappoint was… “it could be worse.” When she fell and broke her arm, she said it could be worse, at least I still have my mind. When she broke her leg and was in rehab she would look around and say it could be worse, it could have been amputated. This was her outlook on life, and we kiddingly threatened to have it engraved on her tombstone, but she had ordered her tombstone well before her death, had it engraved to her direction. We think she didn’t want us to quote her on it, so I took this opportunity to have it recorded in some way, and she is right. “It could be worse.” So be grateful for what you are experiencing whatever that is.
