John William Racine

My father, John William Racine, unexpectedly left us on July 21, 2016 at the age of 53. He was the most kind hearted, jovial and giving person I will ever know. He gave himself to everything he did, and it’s only fitting that his last act was to provide another with his gift of sight.John was loved dearly by many. He and my mother, Lorrie, spent every morning driving together to where they worked at Western Michigan University. Thorugh his work, he supervised many students and as an only child, I am but one of my father’s children. He treated everyone he met with kindness and shared himself with those in need. Many of my family’s lifelong friends are former co-workers and students of my father’s, and we cannImageot thank them enough for all of their help through this difficult time.My father’s brother Ken and sister Marsha will also greatly miss their baby brother. He loved them and their children dearly and it is some solace knowing he is now with his mother Eda and step-father Alan in heaven. It’s impossible to put into words how many lives my father touched. I do know he meant a great deal to me and I will miss having my best friend to count on whenever I need some advice or a helping hand. Your spirit will live on in all those you’ve known through the years and I will share your story through the lesson you’ve taught me.
