Karen Hartwig

The photo on the quilt square was taken approximately one month prior to Karen’s death. She and several friends were enjoying a skating party on frozen Lake Lansing in February 2011. Karen loved outdoor activities – skating, skiing, biking, kayaking, time on the family sailboat, and visits to the family cottage on Douglas Lake (northern Michigan). Her sudden and unexpected death was the result of atherosclerosic cardiac disease (Heart attack) with 80% blockage in her left man artery.
