Michael O’Rourke
The quilt square has four parts. Mike’s picture brings to us the memory of what a wonderful man he had become. All who knew him remembered his smile. When we look at this picture we think of his generosity, selflessness, loyalty, and kindness. He was a wonderful free spirit with a great faith. It is hard to see how these things can be captured in a picture, but that’s what we see in our mind’s eye when we look at his face. The Michigan State symbol evokes the hard work of becoming an adult and his own person. He loved his alma mater and Spartan Sports; he was an avid athlete and outdoorsman. The Mitten State is the symbol of the company he founded and built that celebrated things Michigan with unique and creative clothing and designs. The dates represent the span of Mike’s life; but we know that, not only through his gift of life, but through his soul and spirit he lives on in our hearts. This is just a glimpse of the person Mike was.
