Robert Gilbert
The story behind the quilt block is this… Almost everyone he knew has been the recipient of his ability to understand the need and meet it. Only a few examples can be included here: When a neighborhood youngster needed a bicycle Bob would pull an old bike from his storage and repair it in the finest detail. This was repeated many times. When the local nursing home added a fenced patio for their residents, Bob responded to the idea of obtaining bird feeders by building a number of them. Bob was the neighborhood auto mechanic. He would get the vehicle going in the most economical way – only the cost of the parts was asked for and sometimes that was waived.
