Robert H Esch

In 1968, at the young age of 18, Bob Esch welded a 12-foot star fitted with dozens of giant light bulbs and carried it to the top of the silo at the Esch Farm in Fowlerville, MI. A few years later, after his father bought a taller, 80-foot silo, Bob moved the 12-foot star from the 50’ to the 80’ silo where it has shined proudly every Christmas season since. If you’ve ever seen the star along I-96 about 1 mile west of the Fowlerville exit, you know what star we’re talking about.

December 16, 2011, Bob lost his life after a short battle with Lung Cancer. Bob’s Family is honoring him by starting up a relay for life team called “the Stars that Guide Us.” They are committed to raising money to support the American Cancer Society after experiencing such comforting and compassionate support during Bob’s illness. Bob was passionate about farming, 4-H, and FFA; was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Parish in Fowlerville; was proceeded in Death by his oldest son Michael;   and was survived by his loving wife Elaine, daughters Jennifer and Kimberly, and sons Daniel, Jonathan, and Branden.

 Bob is deeply missed.
