New board members will bring fresh perspectives and ideas to the table
Gift of Life Michigan is proud to announce three new members joining its Governing Board of Directors.
Dr. Damanpreet Bedi, of Birmingham, is a transplant and hepatobiliary surgeon at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital. He and his team specialize in kidney failure, liver failure or tumors of the liver or pancreas. He has more than 19 years of experience in the field and is on Hour Detroit Magazine’s Top Docs List 2023.
Rachel Kuntzsch is president at Public Sector Consultants in Lansing and is a heart transplant recipient. She was instrumental in supporting the passage of the Check Your Heart Act which added the Donor Registry question to state income tax forms. Michigan was the first in the nation to do so. Rachel’s expertise in public policy and her lived experience as a heart recipient brings valuable insight to the board of 20 members.
Sarah Scantamburlo, MSW, MS, PA-C, of Novi, is a physician assistant at CNS Healthcare. As a three-time kidney transplant recipient, Sarah knows firsthand how waiting for a transplant affects patient mental health. Sarah’s advocacy for mental health for waiting patients will support Gift of Life’s efforts to promote physical, mental and whole-body wellness.
The board is chaired by Kathleen Vogelsang, a donor family member and chief investment officer at Van Andel Institute in Grand Rapids.
