Gift of Life Michigan hosts Genesee County Interfaith Breakfast Thursday, April 24

GRAND BLANCOn Thursday, April 24, Gift of Life Michigan will host the inaugural Genessee County Interfaith Breakfast. The free event will take place at the Captain’s Club Golf and Event Center in Grand Blanc, at 10 a.m.  

Interfaith leaders from across the county have been invited to speak including Pastors Jerry and Lynn Kerr, Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Flint and Pastor Brian Willingham, People of Christ Ministries. Tarnesa Martin, community advocate at Hurley Medical Center will also speak on behalf of the hospital, the impact organ donors can have within the community.  

Joining as keynote speaker is two-time double lung recipient Michael Love. As a volunteer with Gift of Life, Michael encourages people to sign up on the Michigan Organ Donor Registry. He speaks at events, dispelling myths and explaining the donation process, hoping for more donors. He brings the message of organ donation to minority communities by volunteering with the Detroit MOTTEP Foundation 

Area residents will provide their stories of hope and inspiration as part of the morning’s agenda including Saginaw resident and kidney recipient Londel Cook and Flint-resident and living kidney donor Alisa Christian. Londel’s life was saved thanks to the support of his church community. Alisa’s selfless decision saved the life of her sister Alena.
