Gift of Life Michigan is proud to announce new board members who will bring fresh perspectives to both its Governing and Advisory Board of Directors.

Dr. Terra DeFoe, regional director to U.S. Sen. Elissa Slotkin, joins the Gift of Life Michigan Governing Board as a passionate advocate for organ, eye and tissue donation. Dr. DeFoe has shared her experience as a donor mother to help and inspire others. She is a published author, the host of a national television show, ‘On the Floor with Dr. Terra DeFoe’ that airs on the Impact Network, and founder of ‘Vessels of Hope Outreach Ministries’ and ‘District for Change,’ where she offers educational sessions, workshops, peer support and recovery coaching.
Gift of Life has also appointed five new members to its Advisory Board of Directors: Amy Brown, M.S.N., R.N., Michigan Health & Hospital Association, Artelia Griggs, Universal Exam Solutions, Noel Lipinski, Merkle Funeral Services, Carrie McCulloch, B.L.A., Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan and LokMan Sung, M.D., Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Amy Brown is chief nursing officer at Michigan Health & Hospital Association in Okemos. Brown has worked extensively with Gift of Life throughout her career. She brings more than 20 years of experience to the board as a leader in healthcare along with a strong commitment to her patients and their families.

Artelia Griggs of Detroit has dedicated her life to promoting organ, eye and tissue donation following the death of her daughter Angela when she was just 38 years old. In addition to her work with Gift of Life, Artelia is a board member for the Detroit Minority Organ Tissue Transplant Education Program (MOTTEP) and volunteers with the Michigan Donor Family Council.

Noel Lipinski is director of funeral operations at Merkle Funeral Home in Monroe. She received her Bachelor of Science from Wayne State University and has been awarded the Walter D. Pool award for her leadership in mortuary science. Her perspective and compassion are invaluable to the families she serves during their greatest time in need.

Carrie McCulloch is the director of development for the Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan in Grand Rapids. As a donor sister and friend of a kidney recipient, she intimately understands the transformative impact a donor can have. Throughout her career working with nonprofit organizations, she has been committed to the betterment of the communities she has served.

Dr. LokMan Sung is the interim chief medical examiner for Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office. Dr. Sung has spent more than five years as clinical associate professor, teaching pathology at Michigan’s top universities.
